                      review:
I got this book from the publisher in exchange for an honest review..

I am glad that I got to read the prologue before I actually read the first book. I got a great picture of how the book was supposed to start.

This book is about a girl named Shade. Her father had recently died, and she was with her mother to take care of her brothers and sisters. She was getting ready to graduate college, but she was different from everyone else. She heard voices in her head. They would tell her to do things, and if she didn’t listen to them they would nag her until she did what they wanted. She never told anyone about the voices in her head for fear of people would think that she was crazy.

One day she missed the bus, and started walking home from school. The voices in her head told her that she needed to go inside the abandoned building. She had a bad feeling, and didn’t want to do it. The voices in her head told her that everything was going to be ok. So, she went inside. She found a guy and a girl fighting. Not the normally kind of fighting it was magic. Blue flames were coming off the man and he was demand that this lady give back what she stole. The lady would make the whole building shake and she flew out the window. The man asked Shade why she was there. She told the man that the voices in her head told her to come here. The named told Shade that his name was Jake, and he needed to take her to his land because of her special gift of hearing voices.

Shade didn’t know what to say, so she followed him anyway. She walked far into the forest. She saw things that she never knew were real. She saw little faerie’s she wanted to touch one, but Jake said that they can make you do things. If you take anything from a little Faerie that you are bounded to them for life or until they are done with you. Shade didn’t know what to say. Jake said that everyone in the forest doesn’t like humans. When Shade made it to the village everyone was looking at her like she didn’t belong. There was a tall lady that introduced herself to be Ilarial. She was the foreseer for the village. She told Shade that her destiny was to go on an adventure to the magical spring and get magical water and bring it back to the village. It would save them all. She couldn’t believe what she was hearing. She told the lady that she was not made to do such things. Her mother was a normal person and that her dad had died. Ilarial told her that her father wasn’t her real father. She continued and told her that she is half faerie and half human. That only a half ling can fulfill the task so big.

The faerie queen made a group of people lead Shade to where she needed to go. These people will keep her safe, and also teach her magic that she didn’t knew that she had. Of course Shade happened to get into a lot of trouble while on this mission. They stopped at another village. Jake was half teleen. These people were able to make their whole body produce electricity. Shade will find herself having to listen to her voice in her head to save her life. There she will face another obstacle and she will be blood bound to another person. Shade will also have to figure out who she can trust and who is out to make her fail. A couple people assigned in her group will try to sabotage her to fail. They will tell her that she doesn’t belong. Shade will also have to figure out what her heart wants, because tons of opportunity will be around every door.

Will Shade be able to complete the task at hand? Or will it be too much for her to handle and turn back.
